Denis Ouellette

Fascinated by all things numbers and math since a kid, my passion remains. Achieving highly in high school academics, including AP calculus credit and a perfect diploma exam score, I have received scholarships on my way to eventually graduating in 2020 from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in General Mathematics with Distinction.

While working in the insurance industry, I also volunteer: tutoring high school math logging over 160 hours in the last three years. This work has kept my knowledge of the Alberta high school math curriculum particularly sharp and current.

Through my volunteer experience I developed a significant sense of patience and empathy, key attributes to supporting students’ confidence in often pressure-packed times. Tutoring is a two-way street. I prefer personalized approaches to learning. We're all different. I am optimistic I can foster improvement in struggling students who have a desire to achieve better results. I have the hands-on skills to deal with different types of learners.

I appreciate that financial flexibility has never been more valuable. I will never pressure students to pre-purchase a block of hours. I only charge on a per-session basis. I do; however, recommend students persevere through a few sessions. Early struggles before a breakthrough is almost a certainty with tutoring services. I have seen this on many occasions.

I am happy to produce security clearances upon request to any concerned parents/parties. Safety and a feeling of acceptance for my students is an utmost priority.
